Azamara Quest Fire leaves Passengers adrift in South China Sea

A cruise ship with up to 60 Britons on board was drifting in the South China Sea last night after an engine-room fire knocked out its power.

The captain of the luxury liner, the Azamara Quest, ordered guests to abandon their cabins and mustered them to their assembly stations when the fire broke out yesterday afternoon.

The blaze – which broke out at 8.19pm local time – was contained in the engine room before being put out but the ship has been left using a back-up generator for power.
