The family of Bin Laden alleged and verdict in Pakistan

Three widows and tow eldest daughters of Osama Bin Laden have been charged and punished for living Pakistan unlawfully, their lawyer has verified.

They have given a jail term of 45 days in jail and fined 10,000 rupees ($114; £71) each.

All the women have already served a month of their punishment and are expected to be expelled in two weeks.

They have been in Pakistani detention ever since US elite forces killed the al-Qaeda chief last May.

The widows – considered to be two Saudi Arabians and a Yemeni - are thought to be in a house in the capital, Islamabad, which has been selected as a "sub-jail", with all of their children.

Official legal proceedings against the women began last month, authorities say.

Their lawyer has told the Associated Press news agency that he does not aimed to appeal against the verdict. He did not say where the family might be extradited to.

In spite of having a $25m (£15m) reward on his head for his role in organizing the 9/11 attacks on the US, Osama Bin Laden lived in a safe compound in the north-western city of Abbottabad with his wives and children for almost five years.

Over the last few weeks, features about their life on the run have been seeping out in media reports.
