The woman, aged between 40-55 checked into a casualty unit in Aachen, Germany, a week ago with neck injuries but no recollection of how she got them or who she is.
However, the police have released an image of a distinct sun tattoo that she has on the back of her neck in a bid to find her next-of-kin.
A police spokesman revealed that a search of her possessions didn't provide a single clue to her name or address.
'She seems to be suffering from a rare case of total amnesia. Everything we've tried has come up with blanks so now we're asking people if they recognise her body art.'
He added: 'She has no idea about and only remembers getting out of the car driven by a strange man before walking into the hospital.'
Described as being slim and speaking excellent German she has dark brown dyed hair cut short.
