A personal trainer who called himself 'Danger' has been accused of using Craigslist to stalk women and 'torture' them.

Dejon Miller, 35, from Hollywood, allegedly used the advertising website to recruit female models to pose for his fitness website.

But when they responded he would verbally abuse them and beat them, it is claimed.

Miller, from Los Angeles, was arrested on Wednesday after his girlfriend went to police claiming he had beaten her until she lost consciousness in an attack that police described as 'torture'.

'The victim actually did lose consciousness and probably was really close to actually passing away,' LAPD Det. Brandy Arzate told KTLA.com.

While he didn't give details of the abuse, he added: 'It was very unusual techniques that he would use. Something as a detective that I haven't come across before.'

His charges include attempted murder, false imprisonment and spousal abuse. His bail was set at $1.3 million. Read More

Aaron Wilkinson who shot dead his landlady cleared of murder because he was suffering from post-traumatic stress after serving in Afghanistan

A former soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder has been cleared today of murdering his landlady.

Aaron Wilkinson, 24, of Alma Street, Woodlesford, Leeds, was found not guilty of murdering 52-year-old Judith Garnett by shooting her in the chest and head.

Wilkinson, who was also diagnosed with a form of Asperger’s Syndrome, told Bradford Crown Court he was not in control of his actions when he shot Mrs Garnett.

He has admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

The jury took around three hours to reach the not-guilty verdict after the two-week trial.

The trial heard that Wilkinson joined the Territorial Army at 19 and went on a six-month tour of duty of Afghanistan in 2009.

Following his return, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder by an army doctor and has since also been found to suffer from Asperger's Syndrome, or a similar condition. Read More

Mystery surrounds silencing of key al Qaeda websites

Key al Qaeda online forums have fallen silent in the past two weeks, leaving terrorism experts to wonder the cause and whether a key communications mode of the terror group and its affiliates has been purposely undermined.

The sites, where al Qaeda posts messages and jihadists and wannabe jihadists post messages and discussions regarding their ideology and loyalty, started disappearing on March 23, said Aaron Y. Zelin, a researcher in the Department of Politics at Brandeis University. Zelin also maintains the website Jihadology.net.

The outages were first reported by the Washington Post. No entity has claimed responsibility and U.S. officials contacted by CNN would not comment.

The online al Qaeda ecosystem starts with the different branches of al Qaeda - like al Qaeda central in Pakistan, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula based in Yemen or al Qaeda in Iraq - which produce messages through their own media production wings that are distributed by an entity known as al-Fajr Media, which then redistributes them to the various forums, Zelin explained.

"It is an authentication process" so the forums know the al Qaeda communications are legitimate since they come from the same media group, Zelin said. Read More

France opens probe after raids on Islamist radicals

(Reuters) - Thirteen members of a radical Islamist group arrested in police raids last week are being put under investigation on suspicion of terrorist activities, a public prosecutor said on Tuesday.

Nine of them will be held in custody during the inquiry, Paris prosecutor Francois Molins told a news conference, adding that the suspects had at one time discussed the possibility of kidnapping a judge in the city of Lyon.

Those under inquiry were among 19 arrested in swoops across several cities on March 30, a week after police killed Mohamed Merah, an al Qaeda-inspired gunman who shot dead seven people, including three Jewish children, in three separate attacks.

The killings turned internal security into a bigger campaign issue ahead of the April 22 opening round of a vote in which President Nicolas Sarkozy is seeking a second term but trails in the opinion polls behind Socialist rival Francois Hollande. Read More

Danny Hembre claims he slept with prosecutor... and has second murder charge thrown out

A convicted murderer had his trial thrown out of court today after he spoke of a letter alleging a sexual relationship with the assistant district attorney.

Danny Hembree, 50, was on trial for the second of three murders he is suspected of having committed.

Hembree was sentenced to death on November 18 last year for the 2009 murder of Heather Catterton, 17, and has been held at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina.

He was back in court today accused of the murder of Randi Dean Saldana, 30, who was also murdered in 2009.

During the murder trial for Miss Catterton, Hembree said he had strangled Saldana in the basement of his mother’s Gastonia, North Carolina home, but that it was an accident after a marathon of sex and crack cocaine.

Miss Saldana's burnt remains were found lying in a dirt road in Kings Mountain State Park. Hembree is also believed to have killed Deborah Ratchford, 30, whose body found in 1992. Read More

Samantha Koenig's Body found in Alaska lake two months after she was kidnapped from coffee shop

Arrested: Israel Keyes, 34, is in police custody on unrelated charges and is the sole person of interest in the Koenig case.

The body of an 18-year-old barista has been found in a lake, more than two months after she was abducted from the coffee stand where she worked in Anchorage, Alaska.

After hours of searching Monday, police divers found Samantha Koenig's remains in Matanuska Lake, 39 miles north of the spot where she was last seen being kidnapped by an armed man.

Detectives believe her killer targeted the teen at random. She has no known connections to the suspect -- who is in police custody on unrelated charges.

Police said they believe the Anchorage woman died within hours of her abduction. They would not say how she was killed.

'Investigators further believe the person responsible for Samantha's death acted alone, and we are confident that we have that person in custody,' Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew said.

Israel Keyes, 34, a self-employed carpenter, is the only man named as a 'person of interest' in the case. Read More

Scott Tyner shoots five at Mississippi restaurant in unmotivated attack

A 44-year-old man who went on a shooting rampage at a Mississippi restaurant and critically injured five people today has been arrested.

Police have charged Scott Tyner with aggravated assault in connection to the violent attack at Mexican eatery Cucos.

Lt. Eric Proulx of the Hattiesburg police said Tyner walked into the restaurant along U.S. Highway 49 and opened fire sometime after 3 p.m.

'There was no confrontation, there was no exchange of words,' Proulx said.

Proulx said the silent gunman ran away but only got a short distance before police arrived and arrested him on five counts of aggravated assault.

Pictures from the scene show shocked people of varying ages, covered in blood and being tended to by ambulance crews and police.

Early reports suggested that one person had died but coroner Butch Benedict said there were no fatalities. Read More

Joseph Pabon guilty of killing cleaner and stuffing body in skyscraper air duct after stalking her as they worked night shift

A handyman was convicted yesterday of suffocating a cleaning lady and stuffing her body in an air-conditioning duct in a deserted office tower where they worked at night.

Joseph Pabon, 27, was found guilty of the kidnap and murder of Eridania Rodriguez in July 2009.

Mrs Rodriguez, 46, disappeared while working a night shift cleaning at a skyscraper in Manhattan's downtown financial district. Her body was found after an extensive four-day search.

Pabon, 27, has denied killing the married mother-of-three. His lawyers said authorities had woven a criminal case out of coincidences and innocent conduct.

However jurors concluded he abducted the woman as she worked and smothered her, covering her mouth with industrial tape.

A devout Catholic forgave the brute who tried to murder her in a random knife attack today as he was warned he may never be freed.

Frail spinster Maria Morrison, 75, was stabbed repeatedly by 23-year old musclemen David Walters because he wanted to 'do some damage to someone' after 'losing face' over a tiff on Facebook.

Deivydas Jacikas Hailed Hero by British Media is Jailed for MURDER of a Grandfather

A have-a-go hero who tackled a gun-wielding robber has been jailed for life for a brutal murder.

Deivydas Jacikas, 21, was praised for his bravery after he was caught on camera stopping a fleeing jewel thief.

But just eight months later Lithuanian national Jacikas carried out a revenge attack on a grandfather-of-nine Henrikas Baranauskas, 56, who he claimed head-butted his father.

Nouakchott, Mauritania (CNN) -- As a member of Mauritania's slave-owning class, Abdel Nasser Ould Ethmane could have had anything he wanted as a present for his circumcision ceremony: a toy, money, a camel, or, as his brother would choose, a bicycle.

But the 7-year-old wanted something more sinister.

He chose Yebawa Ould Keihel, a young boy with skin the color of coal. At that moment, Abdel became a slave master.

It's an experience that's common here in Mauritania, a vast country in West Africa's Sahara Desert where activists and the United Nations estimate 10% to 20% of people are enslaved -- usually dark-skinned people who have lighter-skinned masters.

For the owners of slaves, a group of Arab people called the White Moors who raided sub-Saharan Africa for slaves centuries ago, this is no big deal.

"It was as if I were picking out a toy," Abdel, now 47, said of choosing Yebawa as his slave. Read More

Huan Goh Arrested Following Oakland's Oikos University Shooting leaving 7 Dead

A gunman killed seven people and wounded three others at a Christian college in California after telling witnesses: "Get in line… I'm going to kill you all."

The sole suspect in the shooting was arrested at a shopping centre about three miles away and was named by police as Huan Goh, 43.

He is believed to be a resident of Oakland, about 10 miles outside San Francisco, and a former student at Oakland's Oikos University, the scene of the shooting.

Police said they were still investigating the motive for the killings. Goh has not been charged. Officers said they believed the attacker had acted alone. Read More

Oakland university Shooting: Police Confirm Deaths

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Police have confirmed that there are fatalities in a shooting at an Oakland Christian university that also left at least four people wounded.

Police spokeswoman Johnna Watson confirmed the deaths Monday at Oikos University, but could not say how many.

Officials at a nearby hospital say they're treating four people from the shooting.

Authorities are looking for the suspect, described at a Korean man in his 40s with a heavy build and wearing khaki clothing. Source

OAKLAND, CA (RNN) - At least one is dead and several more were injured after a shooter opened fire at Oikos University in Oakland, CA according to KGO-TV.

The shooter is still on the loose and has been described by police as an Asian man wearing tan or khaki clothing. He has a heavy build and may be armed.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the shooting happened around 10:40 a.m. Police and SWAT officers are surrounding the building.

The Chronicle also said at least five ambulances have been requested, citing the Oakland Fire Department. Source

Oakland Christian medical school Shooting: 5 Injured

CBS/AP) OAKLAND, Calif. - Police say they're responding to reports of five people hurt in a shooting at a Christian medical school in east Oakland.

The shooting happened Monday morning at Oikos University. The Oakland Tribune reports that wounded people have been brought out of the building, and more gurneys are being brought in.

CBS San Francisco reports that police are at the campus, which houses nursing and religious courses.

According to its website, Oikos University offers studies in theology, music, nursing and Asian medicine. Source

Mega Millions mania has plunged a Maryland McDonald’s into a bubbling cauldron of controversy hotter than a deep-fried apple pie.

Workers at the fast-food joint who pooled their cash for tickets are furious at a colleague who claims she won with a ticket she bought for herself and has no intention of sharing.

“We had a group plan, but I went and played by myself. [The ‘winning’ ticket] wasn’t on the group plan,” McDonald’s “winner’’ Mirlande Wilson 37, told The Post yesterday, insisting she alone bought one of the three tickets nationwide that will split a record $656 million payout.

“I was in the group, but this was separate. The winning ticket was a separate ticket,” the single mother of seven said as she and her fiancé left her home in the squalid Westport neighborhood to attend church.

The Haitian immigrant refused to show what she said was the winning ticket, claiming she had it hidden in another location and would present it to lottery officials today.

Pressed as the day went on, she became more cagey.

“I don’t know if I won. Some of the numbers were familiar. I recognized some of [them],’’ she said. “I don’t know why’’ people are saying differently. “I’m going to go to the lottery office [today]. I bought some tickets separately.”

With winning tickets also sold in Illinois and Kansas, a single Maryland winner would get an after-tax lump sum of $105 million, or $5.59 million a year for 26 years.

If Wilson won, and if it was with a pooled work ticket, the situation would be shockingly similar to that of New Jersey lottery louse Americo Lopes, who tried to screw five former colleagues after hitting a $24 million jackpot before a jury ordered him to spread the wealth.

Wilson’s co-workers — who make little more than $7.50 an hour — are sizzling with anger over the notion. more

Daniel Bartlam Detained for Minimum 16 Years for the Carefully Planned Murder of His Mother Jacqueline

A schoolboy who claimed he was inspired by a plot from Coronation Street to kill his mother with a hammer has been detained for a minimum of 16 years.

Daniel Bartlam attempted to commit the "perfect murder" by emulating the ITV1 soap opera villain John Stape, who had also killed a woman with a hammer.

The 15-year-old admitted killing his mother, Jacqueline, in April 2010 but claimed it was not murder because he had lost self control.

However earlier this year, a jury at Nottingham Crown Court found him guilty of murder.

The court heard that police found a montage of scenes from various TV soaps on the teenager's home computer - including fires and a hammer murder.

He had also accessed websites such as How To Get Away With Murder.

After the killing, Bartlam wrapped his mother's body in newspaper and set her alight.

Her body was so badly burned that she could only be identified from dental records.

Local authorities had referred Bartlam to a counsellor after he complained of hearing voices but a psychiatrist found he was not mentally ill.

Joseph L Nerone found covered in blood after 'stabbing elderly MOTHER to death at their home'...Then Blames Satan for it

A man accused of stabbing his mother to death has blamed Satan for killing her, authorities said.

Joseph L Nerone, 54, was ordered to under go psychological testing after he was arrested at his home on Friday 'covered in blood'.

A neighbour discovered Nerone and the body of his elderly mother Elaine Nerone, 84, at the home they shared in Chicago.

The victim had multiple stab wounds and several knives were found at the scene.

The alleged killer had minor injuries to his arms.

Nerone, who has a history of mental health issues, told officers that 'Satan did it and was inside of him', according to the Chicago Tribune.

The 54-year-old was being held at Cermak hospital after being refused bail by Judge James Brown today.

He appeared in court wearing a hospital gown.

A medical examiner ruled that Elaine Nerone had died as a result of stab wounds and blunt force trauma. Read More
