BBC's TV Centre 'infected with rats'


The BBC has called in pest control specialists after rats were observed at Television Centre, home of the newscaster's Today program and the World At One, it was reported.

The rodents were dotted at the complex in west London with staff accusing the trouble on overlook at the building following moves to the fresh refitted Broadcasting House in central London and a new media centre in Salford.

Associates were said to have seen the comic side with one leaving a phony rat near the desk of veteran newscaster John Humphrys, according to the Daily Mail.

An informer told the newspaper: "Our operating circumstances are becoming more and filthier because they're not worrying to carry out repairs, as we are presumed to be moving soon as well – though we have no plan when.

"We're not convinced accurately how many rats there are. They keep popping up at distinctive areas around the office.

"Likely the key thing fascinating them is the reality that people are so active they eat at their desks and there are morsels universally."

Last October, it appeared that mice had infested Television Centre, which was raised for sale last year.

Corrie Corfield, a newsreader on Radio 4, protested on Twitter that the building was "swarming with the little blighters. There's no escape." 

Former Today editor Rod Liddle told the Mail: "It was a far more enlightened administration in my day – we just had mice, lice and fleas. 



"Some times ago, when I was on a train from Wiltshire to work, a flea really hopped off me and on to the table in front of two other travelers.

"But rats are pretty tough duty. I indicate, you don't mess with a rat. I feel they should set John Humphrys on them."


Jane Hill - BBC news presenter demands for clothing allowance


Jane Hill, BBC news host has said that the newscaster should give its newsreaders a dress grant to cover the expense of their wide-ranging wardrobes.

Miss Hill, who is considered to take home between £80,000 and £100,000, said in a magazine article that female broadcasters were expected to wear different outfits.

But she said her male partners require just adjust their ties.

The 42-year-old newsreader said: "It's costly... as we have to purchase all our own dresses.

"We're disparaged if we keep wearing the same thing, while male broadcasters only require new ties.

"Until those changes we should get an outfits allowance."

Her statements, reported in the Daily Mail, came after her BBC co-worker Sian Williams was rejected a tax refund on her work costumes by HM Revenue and Customs.
The BBC Breakfast host said for a £1,800 refund on the £4,500 she used up on her appearance.

HMRC said: "The BBC member of staff the complainant to appear on TV as a newscaster, and she is not performing her duties when her outfits are being cleaned or when she is sitting in a hairdressing salon." 



Well-known Actor “Charles Dance” to be a father once more at 65


The veteran actor- Charles Dance is expecting a baby with his 39-year-old fiancée at the age of 65, the couple has unveiled.

The ex-superstar of the 1984 series The Jewel In The Crown will grow to be a father for the third time.

He has a 36-year-old son, Oliver, and a 27-year-old daughter, Rebecca, from his first marriage to sculptress Joanna Haythorn.

Dance's fiancée, Eleanor Boorman, a painting artist, sculptress and former model, verified the news on Tuesday.

She told the Daily Mail: "We're expecting a baby. Fingers crossed the whole thing will be excellent. We're both delighted."

A friend of the couple also told the newspaper: "Charles is very happy and overjoyed at the news."

The couple’s engagement was unveiled last September after they first become a pair in 2008. They live mutually in north London.

Dance, whose first wedding finished eight years before, was said to be "delighted and happy at the reports".

After his marriage broken, he had a relationship with Thunderbirds actress Sophia Myles before he was associated to the 36-year-old past Gucci model Shambhala Marthe.

Marthe explained Dance as "huge company" and said: "Older men recognize how to encourage a woman."

Dance won a host of female respects when he come out as the suave Guy Perron in the award-winning 1984 TV series The Jewel In The Crown, the succession that assisted to make him an worldwide celebrity.

Hugh Grant, the actor, has been seen kissing a parody singer thirty years his junior in Germany just a day after his new parenthood was declared following a short fling.

Miss Schmidt told Bild, a German scandalous newspaper: "I was in London with Guy to discuss about my first album. In the evening we allocated a meal and there got to be familiar with Hugh Grant.

"Since then we have come to know one another superbly and have become good friends. But there is certainly nothing more than friendship. Now he is in Berlin and asked me for a dinner. That is all."

Four years before Grant told Vogue, the magazine, that he was ready to be a father, saying: 'As much as I respected myself, I'm quite eager to find somebody else to care about more. I remember reading a Warren Beatty quote when he ultimately had children and said what a reprieve it was not to be all me, me, me.' Grant’s spokesman said on Tuesday: “I can verify that Hugh Grant is the happiest father of a baby girl.

“He and the mother had a momentary affair and, while this was not planned, Hugh could not be more contented or more kind. “He and the mother have talked the whole things and are on very friendly terms.”

The distinctiveness of the mother has not been properly revealed.

Jeremy Clarkson: injunction 'futile' after Twitter Gossips


Jeremy Clarkson, the Top Gear anchor, has unveiled that he lifted an injunction interdiction the publication of features about his so-called affair with his ex-wife after the claims were outed online.

Last night Clarkson said the gagging order became "futile" when his name was connected with the charges on websites counting Twitter.

"Injunctions don't work," he told the Daily Mail. "You remove an injunction against anybody or some group and sooner news of that injunction and the people concerned and the report behind the injunction is in an official-free world on Twitter and the internet."

Clarkson said he was gone to lift the order after his mother and three children, Emily, Finlo and Katya, were disturbed by the online gossips.

"I dish the dirt out and I can take it. But why should my mother and children have to take it?" he told the Mail.

"There is also a guess of fault which goes hand in hand with an injunction."

Clarkson said he regretted his deeds from the day he took out the injunction, further that his mother was critically sick at the time he went to the High Court.

The broadcaster and newspaper columnist said his choice was also affected by the costs involved in the lawful procedure, which were "extremely luxurious".

"You utilized to be capable to take out an injunction and then just sit on it," he said. "But consequently of a newly court case you are now finally enforced by the courts to go to test."

Clarkson was arranged the gagging order last September after gossips surfaced that he was sleeping with his former wife, Alexandra Hall, in spite of being wedded to his present wife, Frances.

Mrs. Hall, an industrialist who has come out on Dragon's Den, said she was left "terrified, perplexed and angry" by the gagging order.
