Jaguar Land Rover to verify most-modern UK plant

Jaguar Land Rover will this week declare a setup to build a £400m engine plant in the Midlands, generating in excess of 2,000 new jobs and driving millions of pounds value of trade into the supply chain.

LR is likely to create the pronouncement as early as today, beside Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, following a Government vow to strengthen JLR's investment with a £10m hold up package.

The innovative plant will be based at the i54 business park in Wolverhampton, an enterprise zone, and will take around two years to establish.

It could ultimately use up to 2,000 employees, and an additional 1,200 jobs will be made in the area and related with supply chain. The plant is also a major political victory for the Coalition government, which is looking for rebalancing the economy by advancing manufacturing and decreasing its reliance on banking.

It also marks a rotation in the fates of JLR since it was obtained by Tata Motors in 2008. JLR's engines are presently supplied by Ford from plants including Dagenham and Bridgend, but the car manufacturer would likes to acquire further domination of its supply chain.
