School assassination Scandal upsets French Nation

The French authorities have condemned the judiciary's tackling of an adolescent blamed of rape that went on to number a girl from his boarding school.

The boy, known as Mathieu M., 17, had spent four months in imprisonment for raping a slight in southern France.

He had been under judicial control. The school said it had not been completely attentive of his past.

Last Friday, the body of Agnes, 13, was located in a forest nearby to the school. She had been raped and burned.

Agnes's mother, Paola Marin, said she would not have passed away "but for a little less carelessness" from the school.

The sufferer's father, Frederic Marin, accused that the school, Cevenol International in Chambon-sur-Lignon, had been awake of the boy's history and that he had troubles involving "acts of sexual violence".

Head teacher Philippe Bauwens, told French radio station RTL that the school was conscious the boy had had difficulties with the judiciary but did not identify their nature.
"We had no communications with the judicial officials," he said.

After an urgent meeting with fellow ministers on Monday, French Interior Minister Claude Gueant told TF1 TV that "there had been a dysfunction" in the case and that change of the justice system for minors would be a main concern after elections next spring.

Prime Minister Francois Fillon said that in the gravest cases where a minor was a suspect, they should be "placed in a protected educational centre".

He also informed cabinet colleagues to make sure that it was no longer possible for a student to be registered in a school without the head teacher being fully learnt of serious cases involving judicial administration.

French media report that Mathieu M. was charged of raping a childhood friend and that after four months in arrest had been evaluated as not posing any risk.

His parents were said to have searched for another school for him to fulfill his education but had been refused on numerous instances before being given a place at Cevenol International.

Agnes moved out on Wednesday last week and her body was found two days later. The investigator said had been killed in a severe atrocious way.
