Scott Tyner shoots five at Mississippi restaurant in unmotivated attack

A 44-year-old man who went on a shooting rampage at a Mississippi restaurant and critically injured five people today has been arrested.

Police have charged Scott Tyner with aggravated assault in connection to the violent attack at Mexican eatery Cucos.

Lt. Eric Proulx of the Hattiesburg police said Tyner walked into the restaurant along U.S. Highway 49 and opened fire sometime after 3 p.m.

'There was no confrontation, there was no exchange of words,' Proulx said.

Proulx said the silent gunman ran away but only got a short distance before police arrived and arrested him on five counts of aggravated assault.

Pictures from the scene show shocked people of varying ages, covered in blood and being tended to by ambulance crews and police.

Early reports suggested that one person had died but coroner Butch Benedict said there were no fatalities. Read More
