The British armed forces in Afghanistan have revealed a new weapon – in the form of Superman’s brother.
Nick Cavill, Royal Marine is taking on the Taliban as his younger brother Henry, an actor, is getting ready to play Superman in the impending Hollywood movie Man of Steel.
Major Cavill, 36, of 45 Commando Royal Marines, is looming the end of a Gruelling six-month visit in Afghanistan.
In the mean time Henry has been bulking up to facilitate drag on the superhero's unique blue and red outfit.
Members of Major Cavill’s unit said they were pleased when they listen to about the association.
One Royal Marine helping with Major Cavill told The Sun newspaper: “We heard the report before we deployed. Then one young man obtained sent a care package with a mag which had a story on his brother and his role. We couldn't think it – he's the Helmand Superman. It's luminous.”
Another Marine, aged 23, said: “Every time Major Cavill provides us an update we ask him, ‘is it a bird or is it a plane?’
“We ask him if he has Superman on name if things don't go to plan out here.”
Jersey-born Henry is best recognized for his character in historical drama The Tudors.
Man of Steel, which is on air in summer 2013, has a £100 million budget and is directed by Dawn of the Dead's Zack Snyder.
Henry, 28, said: “I'm preparing 2½ hours a day, putting on a lot of muscle, making myself similar to Superman.”
Major Cavill and a MoD spokesman denied to remark.
But a defense source said: “All our servicemen and women out in Afghanistan are superheroes.”
