Major Nicholas van Cutsem, one of Prince William’s dearest friends, is being questioned over charges that he attacked a warrior during an army training.
The Cavalry officer, who was accompanying at the Duke of Cambridge’s marriage ceremony, purportedly hit the soldier with a horsewhip during guidance.
The soldier submitted a formal complaint about the supposed incident and military police have now initiated an inquiry.
Major van Cutsem is one of the Duke’s most loyal friends having familiar him since infancy.
He accomplished the crucial role of commander of the Captain’s Escort during the royal wedding in April and was glimpsed by billions of people around the world traveling next to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as their cart made its way back to Buckingham Palace.
The alleged mishap is unspoken to have taken place when soldiers at Bodney training camp in Norfolk were replicating an assault on a royal coach.
A leading source told The Sun newspaper: “Half the regiments were posing as demonstrators but on this event they were victorious in conquering the ceremonial guard.
“Many of them were pulled off the coach and in the procedure the blame was made against one of the higher officers for utilizing his whip.
“These mocked up situation are not unexpected as part of training, but on this event it looks things may have obtained a little out of hand.”
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said: “We can verify that the Royal Military Police are inspecting charges of attack on a soldier serving in the Household Cavalry Regiment.
“The purported mishap happened during a military parade which engaged boosted troops dealing with a public order circumstances. It would be inadequate to say further while the inquiry is carrying on.”
