But on closer inspection lovers would be let off for surprising why Sadie Frost permitted her daughter Iris to wear an outfit that speaks out "drop dead", "drink poison", and an embarrassment of other X-rated messages.
Iris, Frost's child with Jude Law, sat front line along with her mother at the Vivienne Westwood show at London Fashion Week on Sunday.
She teamed her costume with white lace tights and a blazer as she sat snapping photos of the models on her iPhone.
Ms Frost, 46, tweeted today: "I look like to have distress people & am astonished myself about the clothing Iris wore to Vivienne Westwoods show. Iris had been purchased it as a present."
Also taking their daughter to London Fashion Week was Heston Blumenthal, who posed before the catwalk show with his teenager Jessica.
Other stars in audience were Jo Wood, in a plunging red gown, Gizzi Erskine, Rita Ora and Gabriella Cilmi.
Talking before the show, Dame Westwood said the climb of disposable fashion now intended people often looked too comparable.
She said: "In history people dressed much better than we do at present. If you saw Queen Elizabeth it would be incredible, she came from a different planet.
"She was so gorgeous in what she was wearing. People have never looked so hideous as they do today about their dress.
"We are so traditionalist, nobody is viewing. We are all sucking up material, we have been trained to be shoppers and we are all overwhelming far too much.
"I'm a fashion designer and people believe what do I know but I'm speaking about all this disposable. "So I'm saying purchase less, prefer well, make it last.
Everyone looks like clones and the only people you see are my age. I don't notice anyone except they look great, and every now and again they do, and they are generally 70."
