We finally finished Trinity’s bedroom! Yay!
I have to admit Iwas a bit worried.. I had so many ideas, but I wasn’t sure if they were all going to come together, but I think they did!
First, I chose an earthy theme that Trinity would relate to, then I made sure the designs would last for a good couple of years.
She told me she wanted her room to be colorful, so for the last few months I knew I was going to have bright pink, blue, and green in her bedroom. I picked up random items that matched with some existing items. I already had this mirror tucked away under my bed.
I found a few little containers, wall stickers, green rope and clips at the Dollar Tree. Then I found some bright colored feathers and a frame and faith sign that I loved from Hobby Lobby. After that I needed to find bedding that matched the colors. I looked everywhere and ended up finding it at Walmart, which is sweet, because this stay-at-home mom is on a budget J
A few days ago we pulled out the furniture and I spray painted it black. Then I sanded it down to give it the antique distressed look.
Next, we began painting her walls. I pulled 2 shades of brown from her bedding for the wall color and decided to separate the colors with a black handpainted border. I knew that I wanted black vines, but I wasn’t sure if it would be handpainted or airbrushed. I called my very talented brother Chris over and he decided to hand paint the vines for me. Didn’t they turn out awesome?
My hubby and son cut out some flowers for me on some plywood that we picked up at Lowes for about $10 and then I painted them using the frame as a model.
I did add a little brown to the frame, because I wanted to tie the décor into the wall color and bedding. Then we used some nail glue and a hot glue gun to mount the flowers on the wall. The walls turned out to be my most favorite part of the room!
I had some inexpensive magnetic strips that I found at Ikea and put them up in a box to make a frame shape and added the wallstickers inside. Trinity can eventually use the magnets to display pictures.
Next we hung the green rope from the ceiling for her to display artwork and glued the little plastic containers to the wall. They can hold her scissors and pencils near her desk.
I am so happy with her room and I’m also happy to be done! J One more room complete. Yessss.
Last, but not least, in the hanging above her door I added a quote that says...
Every day that the sun comes up is a day to be happy.
*Create. Love. & Grow friends, and have a great day…*
